Technical Product Manager, Platform (f/m/d)
We are hiring here at Upvest come and join the growing team!
We’re looking for fintech enthusiasts to join us in creating the financial infrastructure of tomorrow. We’re building the first European Investment API to enable any financial institution to offer a broad range of investment products in their apps. Our view is backed by Europe's largest tech VCs (Earlybird, Notion Capital, Partech, HV Capital, ABN AMRO Ventures) by renowned fintech entrepreneurs (including Maximilian Tayenthal, founder of N26, and Felix Haas, founder of IDnow) and Bessemer Venture Partners in the USA.
We’re based in Berlin but would consider hiring remotely for this role. If you do want to move to Berlin though, we’re happy to support your relocation.
At Upvest, our vision is to make investing as easy as spending money. By enabling any business to offer investment opportunities, our goal is to empower anyone to invest. Today, we count 100+ talented people from 30 different countries.
Your mission:
As the Technical Product Manager for the Platform tribe, you will work with the Head of Engineering, the Tech Leads and the engineers within the tribe. Other important partners will be the information security team and the product management team. Your mission will be to build the internal engineering platform for the product engineering teams. You'll have a chance to enable a fintech API-first product and to help to empower the engineering organisation to reach its full potential. In this role you'll have the opportunity to shape the roadmap for the platform tribes’ current and future products. You will drive our internal platform products, in order to help shape Upvest’s success and ultimately facilitate investing for millions of end-users.
The Platform Tribe's mission
The Platform Tribe plays a crucial part in engineering as it provides services, resources and APIs that other engineering teams use to develop and operate our Investment API product. Classic examples would be observability features, release automation tooling, cloud architecture, developer libraries and more. Furthermore, the tribe develops capabilities according to investment bank-grade regulatory and compliance standards. This includes both delivery of a secure cloud infrastructure for our client’s end-users and shipping capabilities to shift security left for engineers.
This role will give you the opportunity to:
Create, organise, and prioritise the product roadmap together with the tech lead(s) in the tribe.
Curate the process for internal ideation, evaluation and re-framing ideas.
Use and promote design thinking while setting clear boundaries between problem and solution space.
Identify product success metrics and use those metrics to evaluate product success and course-correct. Enable data-driven decisions about what platform products we should build or improve and why. Define goals and measure performance to evaluate and understand product value.
Interview engineers to understand how they do things today, and evaluate prospective solutions with them. Conduct user research and work backwards from our internal customers' needs to deliver a delightful experience.
Facilitate decision making for when it’s most appropriate to prototype and validate ideas or when it's best to proceed with building a production quality product.
Help decompose feature or product improvement ideas to identify the smallest, most valuable, product delivery.
Identify the most cost effective and fastest way to validate product solutions.
Stay up-to-date with improvements in technology and technical practice as well as product design practices.
Job requirements:
Strong technical acumen and experience working with complex technology products and services, with a focus on operations engineering, site-reliability engineering, and developer experience (DX / DevX)
Prior experience with product management
Ability to proactively build relationships with multiple other teams
Experience with agile software development methodologies
Experience with product manager’s toolkits - such as product discovery, ticketing and documentation software (e.g., JIRA, Linear, Confluence, Slite, Miro, etc.)
Experience with microservices, public cloud (GCP), Golang, Kafka, Postgres are all considered a big plus
