We’re based in Berlin but would consider hiring remotely for this role. If you do want to move to Berlin though, we’re happy to support your relocation.

Teams Mission:

The Tooling tribe is responsible for enabling Upvest’s Operations, Risk and Banking teams with user-centric applications to allow them to execute their daily work. These key stakeholders require easily understood tools, which are closely aligned with their operational processes. The tribe’s effectiveness is fundamental to allow efficient handling of the increased volume of trades being processed through our Investment API. Many of these trades will come from Upvest’s latest client, Europe’s leading fintech; Revolut.

The tribe has many exciting plans for its products, amongst them the opportunity to extend its currently internal tools towards a commercial suite of back office tooling.

Upvest is scaling fast and its operational departments are impacted most. Your challenge is to provide those teams with such effective tools that their headcount does not significantly need to rise; otherwise known as asymmetric scaling.

Role Requirements:

• You will have a firm grasp of UI / UX best practices and can capably ideate & prototype through lo-fi wireframes + collaborate with in house designers.
• Have  got a track record of taking initiative, someone who owns outcomes, bridges dependencies and pushes value for its stakeholders.
• Be a sponge! We don’t need you to be a finance or trading industry expert, nor someone who codes GoLang in their spare time. But you will need to be able to absorb knowledge on complicated topics quickly (subledger reconciliation, mutual fund trading flow) and marry your expertise on product management best practices with that of Upvest.
• Experience with agile software development methodologies allows you to build and deliver client features in bi-weekly sprints consistently. You’re proficient at experimenting with the tribe’s ceremonies to make the teams more effective and engaged.
• Knowledge of product manager’s toolkits - such as product discovery, ticketing and documentation software (e.g., JIRA, Linear, Confluence, Slite, Miro, etc.)

Role Responsibilities:

• Empower the Tooling Applications domain team to reach its full potential, working with 4-5 full stack engineers, 1 UX/UI designer and the tribe’s Product Lead and Head of Engineering.
• Collaborate directly and build relationships with the Operations, Banking and Risk teams; understand their challenges to delight them with value-adding tools.
• With guidance from your lead, you do effective tactical planning through OKRs and the domain roadmap, which you are responsible for maintaining.
• Use your knowledge of the market and industry trends to influence and help shape the team’s roadmap & vision.
• Drive the effort to make the team’s products easy to work for newcomers, by building up a comprehensive knowledge base and how-to’s using imaginative mediums.
• Lead the charge to expand Upvest’s current API offering with a commercial back-office tooling product.
