We’re looking for fintech enthusiasts to join us in creating the financial infrastructure of tomorrow. We’re building the first European Investment API to enable any financial institution offering a wide range of efficient and transparent investment products, such as stocks and ETFs in nominal, portfolio, and fractional form. Our mission and vision is to make investing as easy as spending money.
We’re based in Berlin but are also open to hiring remotely in Germany or Estonia for this role. If you're currently based elsewhere but would like to move to Germany, we’re happy to support your relocation.
Your Mission
Join Upvest’s People Experience team as an expert in compensation and benefits. In this role, you’ll take the lead in crafting innovative, equitable, and competitive compensation and benefits strategies, directly influencing the employee experience at a purpose-driven fintech company.
What You’ll Do
Develop and refine compensation and benefits strategies aligned with Upvest’s mission, values, and goals.
Conduct compensation benchmarking, build salary bands, and lead regular reviews to ensure competitiveness.
Manage Upvest’s virtual shares and employee incentive programs, improving tools and processes.
Design and implement compelling global benefits to attract and retain talent.
Provide insights and guidance to leadership on compensation and benefits topics.
Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and best practices.
Stay updated on trends in the compensation and benefits field to enhance offerings.
What You’ll Bring
Professional Background: Ideally, 5+ years of experience in compensation and benefits roles within international settings, but we value relevant skills and expertise just as much—whether gained in startups, established organizations, or other environments.
Expertise: Strong knowledge of modern compensation strategies, incentive structuring, benchmarking, and designing comprehensive total rewards programs.
Technical Skills: Experience with VSOP/ESOP, EIP, and hurdle shares, as well as scaling relevant tools and systems. Advanced data analysis skills with a knack for producing clear, actionable insights.
Communication: Ability to explain complex compensation topics effectively to diverse audiences with clarity and impact.
Project Leadership: Proven success in managing and delivering complex projects in fast-paced environments.
Approach: A hands-on, detail-oriented professional with strong stakeholder management skills, a team-first mindset, and a passion for creating inclusive and equitable compensation strategies—always ready to step beyond your domain to support broader goals.
Nice to Have
Experience in fintech or other regulated industries.
Knowledge of international pension programs.
Familiarity with our systems: HiBob, Linear, Gaia.
